Bratislava needs more trees and greenery. This Bratislava mission strongly resonates with us and we became a partner.
Pixel Federation financially directly supported the planting of 17 trees on Šancova Street near the Bratislava Railway Station. Thanks to our financial contribution, the City of Bratislavamanaged to plant another almost 100 trees on specific school playgrounds around the city.
As part of the 10,000 trees initiative, Bratislava is working on a plan for the systematic restoration and sustainability of its greenery. Since 2019, 2,446 mature trees, 6,201 shrubs and 10,000 seedlings have been planted in the City park.
In summer, woody plants protect our streets from overheating, improve air quality, mitigate the effects of torrential rains and provide a refuge for animals and important insects. The streets with trees are more beautiful and we simply feel more comfortable in them. Greenery is therefore one of city’s priorities.
In 2022 we plan to continue cooperation with the city of Bratislava.
We protect and restore natural habitats through environmental activits
We financially support the work of activist Andrea Janíčková, who cooperates with BROZ, Green patrol Pezinok, as well as with other civic associations focused on nature and landscape protection.
The mission of this group is:
Protection of old trees, for the preservation of the natural habitat of forests,
Establishing cooperation between foresters and conservationists to refine forest management in order to improve biodiversity and increase their resilience to climate change,
Wetland and water protection,
And also improving water retention measures in forests and agricultural land. Plus much more to improve the state of our country, including spreading awareness of important topics in these areas among the public.
We support innovative environmental solutions developed in our region.
For the second year in a row, we have been supporting the Lifbee Academy training program focused on socially responsible business in biotechnology. Biotechnology has huge potential in reducing the negative environmental impacts on our planet and human health. Examples are new sustainable bio-materials, recycling and biodegradation methods in waste treatment, CO2 capture systems and green conservation.
In the second year of Lifbee Academy, interdisciplinary teams of scientists work together with computer scientists, designers and entrepreneurs within the Enviro Lab on the topic “Achieving circular economy in the textile industry using biotechnology”. On behalf of Pixel Federation, we have added our criterion to the topic – motivation and understanding of user and customer needs. Motivation is a key psychological factor that moves things forward. Teams of young innovators will actively work with this criterion and take it into account in their solutions. As a company, we will be involved in evaluating the work of the teams for Enviro Lab in selecting the winning team and we will pass on our feedback.
